Don’t Forget To Breathe

I have to share a film which really inspired me at Outfest.

This is by far one of the best movies I have ever seen. Two hours went by like it was 10 minutes and I had to keep reminding myself to breathe.

This is a story about the power of first loves. On a smaller scale this is a story about a woman who wants nothing more but to be a pilot but is plagued with vertigo. She meets a love with whom she finds ultimate trust but another tale about how the only person who can save you is you.

Alante Kavaite

It’s really hard for me to sum up the plot of this film.

Alante wanted to create a story where you watched it with all your senses and she succeeded.

I’ve read some harsh critiques on it but the trick to this movie, if you can do it, is to let yourself go totally and submit to your senses. Yes it has a story of its own but from what Alante said the film was more about experiencing what Sangaile was going through rather than watching and intellectualizing it.

And now you get to wait in anticipation for the general release.

For more information about the lesbian films I saw at Outfest see this post where I talk extensively about my favorites.

Am I hitting any films you haven’t yet seen? How about the shorts? How am I doing? Definitely let me know!

We are already to the year 2000. It feels so current but I have to keep reminding myself it was actually 15 years ago, super crazy.

This movie gets a lot of flack from the lesbians I’ve met.

The main character isn’t a lesbian. The dialogue is a little on the nose. The acting isn’t great. But I think it’s a cute little “be who you are” film. It was just as difficult for Jessica to come out of the closet as straight as it was for her to come out of the closet as gay. And we still have Helen! It was a semi charming journey about going for the one you want.

I’m not going to say it’s my favorite but I think it is good.

Oh wow, I just realized Jon Hamm is in this…man, I might go Jessica for him…it’ll catch on.

I had a bunch of movies on my list to talk about but they seem to all actually be from 2001. So I will take a break for some shorts!

This is one I found a few weeks ago, it is so cute.

I’ve been distracted these days by my personal work. Hopefully you will soon be able to see Once Upon A Zipper and a few other titles I’ve been working on.

I will end this post with the trailer of Once Upon a Zipper.

I hope you enjoy my little story of lesbian plot line #1 (explained here)
