I have to do two posts today. There is no time for a mistake this monumental.
1-MANHATTAN (1976) DIR. WOODY ALLEN STARRING WOODY ALLEN, DIANE KEATON
I can’t say I love all Woody Allen films but on my short list of ones I do like this one is the absolute number 1.
The main plot of this film is Woody Allen dating a teenager and falling for Diane Keaton at the same time; how very Woody Allen of him.
But what makes this movie amazing is the small part played by the one and only Meryl Streep as Woody Allen’s ex wife who left him for another woman, yowza.
This really is a great movie and you should watch it.
While we are talking about Diane Keaton this one gets honorable mention!
2-THE FIRST WIVES CLUB (1996) DIR. HUGH WILSON STARRING DIANE KEATON, BETTE MIDLER, GOLDIE HAWN
I admittedly haven’t read the book by Olivia Goldsmith but this movie is a true classic. It took courage in 1996 to have a lesbian character in such a main stream film. I never get sick of it.
Can we please talk about the scene when they go to the gay bar?
I’m sure this is one of your go-to feel good movies as well but if you are that one person who has still yet to see it, get off the internet and watch it right now.
I was just watching the trailer and got all warm and fuzzy, what a great movie.
